Humane Society closes to public, citing financial woes

Former Sheriff Frisbie pleads guilty to theft, sentencing date set


Former Putnam County Sheriff Mark Frisbie, 38, pled guilty to a felony charge of federal program theft Saturday. A U.S. District Court press release cites five instances of Frisbie illegally using a Putnam County Sheriff's Department Visa credit card account at First National Bank in Greencastle and a Sheriff's Department commissary checking account at the same bank.… Post the First Comment

Dorm phone service to cease

Cell phone use cited as cause; $100 fee to keep phone

The Residence Life and Housing office has decided to end the service of private phone lines in all university housing in an effort to save money to prepare for upgrading a more efficient campus phone system. The phone lines will stay connected until after fall break when students who wish to keep their lines may pay $100 dollars that will allow them to make local phone calls and set up a voice mailbox.… 6 Comments

Students promote environmentalism


An average light bulb is just as eco-friendly as an energy-efficient light bulb - if they're both turned off. That was just one of the many interesting points mentioned during the DePauw Environmental Policy Project's presentation Tuesday. Obama campaign office opens in Greencastle


On Wednesdsay, Senator Barack Obama's Campaign for Change opened an office in Greencastle. As Indiana's 31st such office, it will serve as a gathering place for people in the Putnam County area who support Obama for president. Jessica Pettitt, a social justice and diversity consultant and facilitator, challenged students to stretch their understanding of a variety of controversial subjects during her three-day stay at DePauw.
