"We know that sustainability is an issue DePauw and Greencastle can work together on, and education is a great place to start," Baratta said.

The speech "Michael Maniates and Selling Ourselves Short" will start the day at noon on East College lawn, followed by crafts and games with Greencastle youth from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. At 4 p.m., Greg Carr will discuss "Environmental Justice for All." The day will culminate in "Educating the Next Generation with Greencastle Schools Superintendent" at 6 p.m. at the Blue Door Café.

"It's important to foster a love for the Earth early on, so that later, they can truly love and appreciate its wonders," Satterfield said.

"Voter Information Day" is Wednesday. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Hub, DEC members will be passing out information about the environmental policies of candidates, both local and national.

"We are hoping that [Voter Information Day] will help people become better informed when choosing who they want to vote for," said Maggie Baber, the DEC member in charge of Wednesday's activities. "A lot of people care about the environment but don't look to see how the candidates feel about it."

The Water Forum will finish the day, taking place at noon and also at 7:30 p.m. in UB 220.

Thursday is "Endangered Species Day." At 2 p.m., students can help plant trees on the Lily Center Lawn, as well as decorate a T-shirt for endangered species from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Hub. At 4 p.m., DEC members Taylor Cantril and Jon Sperl will present "Focusing on Climate Change." The main event of the day will be the Blueprintmusic and Bryan Lesswing Band concert in Bowman Park at 7 p.m. The band is environmentally friendly, using only microphones and not "energy-wasting sound equipment," according to Wright. The decision to hold the concert in Bowman Park was also environmentally conscious, as the use of outdoor lighting will cut down on electricity.

"My hope for the concert is that it provides a bit of a break from the Earth Week talks and festivities, and also that it demonstrates how environmentalism can be applied to everything," Wright said.
