Although unable to pinpoint the exact cause of the rise of applications, Wells feels that part of the increase is due to the increased media attention that the school has been getting nationally, as well as the six-point increase in a U.S. News and World Report college ranking.
"There has been a lot of buzz lately in the media about the school," Wells said.
Overall, despite the concerns that the admissions office may have to face, Wells feels that having a record applicant pool will be great for the school.
"I think that if we reach a record, the attitude in our office would be ecstatic," Wells said. "The financial resources of this school come from tuition money more than any other source."
Casey also has extremely high hopes for the future.
"If not a single additional application came in we will have broken the record as of Monday," he said. "The next six weeks are very telling."
