When the DePauw men's basketball team runs onto the court Saturday night, they will be looking to avenge their early Winter Term loss at Centre College.
The Tigers started the month with a loss on the road but managed to end the month with a 7-2 record.
"We just have to keep doing what we've been doing at home ... They killed us on the boards last time," said junior guard Drew Wills.
The only other defeat the team experienced was against Austin College, who currently sits atop the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with an overall record of 15-5 and 8-3 in SCAC play.
Their game schedule was difficult, making the Tigers' success even sweeter, specifically the team's victory over Trinity College, said senior forward Tom Callen.
"Trinity was a game we really needed because they were on the top of their side of the conference, but the night before against Southwestern was just as big," Callen said.
The Tigers continued their winning streak at home throughout Winter Term and hope to make it 2 straight seasons without a loss in the Neal Fieldhouse.
With 7 victories in January alone, the Tigers are tied for first place in the East division of the SCAC with Birmingham-Southern University (16-3, 8-3). However, Birmingham-Southern is not able to participate in the conference tournament this year.
"Rebounds and Turnovers are two huge things going into this weekend and the last five games of the season," Callen said.
With a limited amount of games left, the Tigers must keep winning to secure their first place position in the East division.
DePauw (15-5, 8-3) will host Centre College (10-8, 6-5) this Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Neal Fieldhouse.
